Precise source localization for the electrical cardiac activation during the cardiac cycle is mandatory for therapeutic planning when severe ventricular arrhythmias are detected. Among the techniques able to provide such information, Magnetocardiography (MCG) has the advantage of being non-invasive, accurate and fast since multi-channel systems became available. The preliminary results presented in this paper refer to a study aiming at verifying the effectiveness of the MCG functional localizations of the equivalent source for cardiac electrical activity during early ventricular activation by integrating such localizations with anatomical MR cardiac reconstructions. Simple models for both the source and the surrounding medium are used as parameterizations in the localization algorithm. After informed consent seven normal subjects were studied, age between 20 and 25 years. In all cases the equivalent source position is found in close proximity of the correct anatomical site as located by an MR-skilled radiologist. The overall localization error for our volunteers never exceeds 6,3 mm. from the obtained results this method seems to be promising for clinical studies, especially in patients who require focal arrhythmias localization.
