This paper presents some considerations derived from an empirical analysis about the factors that may promote or prevent the adoption of closed-loop approaches in the specific context of product End-of-life (EOL) management in a motorcycle local supply network (LSN). This paper represents the progress of a preliminary study and also describes alternative options that could be implemented to design future scenarios. Italy has historically been one of the first countries in terms of LSN presence; moreover, it is the most important European country in terms of production and market share in the two-wheeled vehicles; in addition, the two-wheeler sector presents characteristics that makes it particularly interesting in order to analyze “closed-loop” approaches implementation. Outcomes may contribute to define the context in which producers must make their own choices and can promote the replicability of the approaches in other local supply networks.
