Kinetic data are presented for reactions of (a) toluene-p-thiol with a series of nuclear-substituted beta-morpholinopropiophenones and (b) thiols with the methiodides of beta-piperidino- or beta-dimethyl-amino-propiophenone. The resulting replacement is believed to proceed by an eiimination-addition reaction.
