With the aim of highlighting synergies and potential interactions between IE and I4.0 frameworks, this article presents and discusses the role played by Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in managing the data functional to the development of the sustainability strategy of a leading corporation in the packaging industry, Aptargroup (Aptar). The study outlines the crucial role played by ICTs in the use, sharing and collection of information and data within specific production plants and also in respect of the entire group.
