Horizons of Technological Innovation between Health and Quality for a New Harmony in Italy's Small Towns

The forms, image and functioning of a city, or a small town, have always resulted from the continuous adaption of habitat, the maintenance of vital processes and the assimilation of new technical information necessary to confront changes induced by nature and society. In recent years, many small towns in inland areas of Italy, plagued by earthquakes, climate change and shifting demographics, appear inexorably destined toward abandonment and definitive isolation from the dynamics of settlement and productive activities of the territories in which they are located. Exploring this theme, the text develops a technological reflection focused on identifying new sustainable horizons of innovation, between health and quality of life, in alternative to the widespread avowal of rebuilding 'where it was as it was', no longer an effective vision for the reconstruction, regeneration and repopulation of small towns.
