Considered one of the favorite books of Emperor Charles V, the work of the Burgundian Oliver de la Marche Le chevalier délibéré (1488) had a moderate success in Spain, especially from the translation that Hernando de Acuña published in 1553. However, criticism has not devoted much effort to its study and still less to solve the many questions that the translation of vallisoletano continues to pose. My contribute will try to solve some of them: authorship of the translation; relationship between the testimonies preserved and, above all, analyze how and through which translation strategies Acuña faced a job that, given the main recipient of the text -Carlos Vshould have required all his skills as a translator
