This paper analyzes the travel writings of Adolfo Veber Tkalčević composed during his trip to Italy in the summer of 1858. These writings consist of the 23 letters the Croatian writer sent to his friend V. Pacel, later collected in the volume entitled Listovi o Italiji (1861). Veber Tkalčević sojourned in Rome before travelling as far south as Naples. His descriptions abound in details, not only on the beauty of Italy’s landscape, cities and art, but also about the Italian character.
