Sic et non. La cellula germinale della «Stella» di Rosenzweig

Sic, non, et. The germinal Cell of Rosenzweig's Star - This contribution proposes to bring into focus a conceptual figure that, within F. Rosenzweig's Star of Redemption, plays the role of generative principle of the work's basic speculative architectures and dynamisms. The three sides of the figure in question are condensed in the three latin expressions: sic, non, et. The philosophical tradition has unilaterally beaten the path of sic; that is to say the way of the essence. Instead, the “new thought” of Rosenzweig intends to value, and vindicate, the way of non; that is to say the way of the event. However, the “new thought” does not limit itself to substituting an imperialism of non - which is exposed to irrationalistic drifting – to the traditional, and hyper-rationalistic, imperialism of sic. Rather, it proposes to push the two ways of sic and non to an operose and synergetic coexistence. In the thinker's intentions, the coexistence in question would be realized in the new way of et, that is in the way unlocked by the field of tension that subsists between sic and non. It is a way that does not Hegelianly “remove” the tension in question, but maintains it open, infinitely exalting its fecundity.
