The paper reconstructs and analyzes the genesis, history and content of the drama known as Serbian Hercules (manuscript). The author of the drama was the 19th century Italian patriot and Tommaseo???s collaborator, Francesco Dall'Ongaro (1808-1873). The drama also appeared on the stages under the titles of Slavic Hercules and Marko Kraljevi??. This drama contains many elements of South Slavic oral tradition, and it was supposed to symbolize the struggle of Italian patriots of Risorgimento against the Austrians.
