The paper analyses the archaeological evidence and the sources on the ancient economy in Cyrenaica (Libya), in order to reconstruct the main productions, trades and meaning of exploitation of the local resources. The analysis of literary, historical and archaeological sources is also supported by the data of the recent surveys, GIS mapping and of the Remote Sensing, giving new interesting suggestions concerning the agrarian organization of the ancient ‘kleroi’ and their evolution through the centuries.
