It presents a complete view of the situation of the Cultural heritage in Libya during and soon after the war.The main aim of this contribution is the report of the situation of the Libyan archaeological sites and historical heritage during the recent fights and battles, trying to record the facts, the peoples and the ideas contributing to the safeguard of this huge patrimony, even during the most difficult moments. Moreover, the long and rich history of this country was also used by the ‘rebellious’ as anti-regime vexillum, with strong ethnic implications
