As part of the stabilization process of the foreign component that affects our country, the paper aims to assess the phenomenon related to the acquisition of Italian citizenship, whose importance and influence invests cross-cutting fields of politics, geoeconomics as well as sociology. It’s also important to remember that this phenomenon has been neglected for a long time ending up to determine – indeed – a contraction, in statistical terms, of the actual number of foreigners residing in Italy. In detail, we decided to proceed with a national analysis conducted firstly on provincial and afterwards on municipal basis, the latter with regard to the Abruzzo case as a result, for the sequence of years going from 2006 to 2010, a series of particularly meaningful indicators of the evolution of the phenomenon on the basis of structural and spatial scale are evident.
