The texts from this volume provide qualitative and quantitative models and theories used in the humanities and social sciences. The diversity of the themes developed in the articles selected for this volume demonstrates the complexity of social phenomena, and possible ways of scientific study, analysis and interpretation. The first section focuses on the theories and methods in recent research in social sciences (V. Corsi), explores the boundaries and social contexts in medical research (C. Gavriluţă), continues with highlights of vulnerability in accessing medical and social services (D. Soitu, A. Rebeleanu, L.Oprea, C. Gavrilovici), then points out the aspects of community development contextualised (C. Medeleanu) and of responsibility in community intervention (N. Mihalache). Some dimensions of research methodology of the social phenomena can be found in this volume on addiction (M. Rădoi), on single-parent families (L. Tagârţă), on juvenile justice systems (D. Arhire), the social integration of young people suffering from AIDS (D. Caltea) or the institutionalized ones (M. Scorţa), and also supervision (A. Galbin). The second section comprises interdisciplinary perspectives of the social sciences developed by specialists in areas such as Philosophy, Mathematics, Political Science and Communication, and Sociology. The authors propose models for analysis and results of philosophical studies regarding the dogmatic (A. Adămuţ), the justice from the perspective of Cicero (L. Adămuţ), with references to the "second birth" of Giovanni Papini (D. Bumbaru) and aesthetic (G. Fudulache) which have implications in social science research. These contributions may be premises for a passage to the timeliness of decision-making models in public policy (D. Ţicu), of political participation (R. Asiminei), of civic action and institutional transparency (S. Grecu) and of avatars of fragile democracies (Ş. Bejan). One peculiarity of the contributions in this second section lies in the mathematical and statistical approaches of social phenomena. Therefore, it highlights philosophical foundations of fuzzy theory (F. Eugeni and I. Tofan), mathematical models of its use (A. Maturo and G. Rosiello; A. Maturo and F. Paone ), as well as methods of teaching and the use of statistics in Sociology (F. Casolaro and L. Paladino) and in the learning of mathematics in primary cycles (L. Delli Rocili and A. Maturo). All of these are arguments in favour of opening up the social and human sciences, the other sciences and to exploit this potential in interdisciplinary contexts. The works collected in this volume are addressed, in equal measure, to sociologists, to philosophers, to mathematicians, to people interested in ethics, to specialists in the fields of communication, social and political sciences, at the same time inviting to further developments.
