Pavle Solaric o metamorfozi Morlaka

This paper discusses the etymological theories of Serbian philologist, writer and poet Pavle Solarić with regards to the origins and the metamorphosis of Vlachs-Morlachs, as reported in his manuscript Roda slavenskoga početak, razmnoženije, porodi i izrodi. The manuscript is in Italian (except the title) and is kept in the archives of SASA, Inv. no. 162 (220). In his treatments of the origins of the Morlachs, Solarić proposed a daring and unusual etymological thesis, an approach which characterized his other philological writings. His etymological theories about the Morlachs are considered to be part of the general interest of Europe for that population in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. У овом раду се разматрају етимолошки ставови Павла Соларића о пореклу Влаха-Морлака и о њиховој метаморфози, које је изложио у делу Рода славенскога почетакъ, размноженїе, породе и изроди које је остало у рукопису. Рукопис је на италијанском и чува се у архиву САНУ, инв. бр. 162 (220). Када говори о пореклу Морлака, Соларић се упушта у одважне и необичне етимолошке тезе, што уосталом карактерише уопштено његову филолошку делатност, но те тезе као такве представљају део општег интересовања Европе за Морлаке у XVIII и XIX столећу.
