This article, by analysing archaeological, epigraphic and documentary evidence, explores the Christianization process in the central Apennine region, which in Roman times belonged to Regio IV (Samnium) and partly to Regio V (Picenum), and highlights the interrelation and exchange events with the Roman context, as well as the distinctive elements developed at local level. The specific geographical location of this region, which had established connections towards the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas since Late Antiquity, favoured influences and contacts from diverse sources, going far beyond a strictly Roman context to reach the entire Mediterranean Basin.

Abstract
This article, by analysing archaeological, epigraphic and documentary evidence, explores the Christianization process in the central Apennine region, which in Roman times belonged to Regio IV (Samnium) and partly to Regio V (Picenum), and highlights the interrelation and exchange events with the Roman context, as well as the distinctive elements developed at local level. The specific geographical location of this region, which had established connections towards the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas since Late Antiquity, favoured influences and contacts from diverse sources, going far beyond a strictly Roman context to reach the entire Mediterranean Basin.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
