Abstract
Shape analysis is a new research field for mathematically modeling patterns emerging from complex systems. A very important application is in medical imaging. In this chapter, we propose a framework to analyze the bone response to biomaterials and dental implants. The methodology implements information geometry tools, which allow a statistical shape representation as a family of probability distributions. Besides, the Fisher–Rao metric can be used to define a distance between shapes and to study the evolution of a shape in time.File in questo prodotto:
