Rappresentare il paesaggio fortificato: riletture grafiche della Fortezza di Civitella del Tronto // Representing the forti ed landscape: graphic interpretations of the Fortress of Civitella del Tronto

The paper proposes an graphic analysis through the design of the fortress of Civitella del Tronto located in hill between the Abruzzo and Marche, historically between the Papal States and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which because of its strategic location was an important defensive stronghold until 1861. The peculiar orographic situation has influenced the defensive structure and the conformation of his borgo that between the slopes of the eastern side favors the arrangement of the level curves, following the longitudinal trend. The extraordinary environmental and landscape position clear the defensive and sighting domain functions that allow you to have ample perceptive views, facing the mountains and the surrounding valleys to the sea. The aim of the research is to retrace, through the representation, the historical evolution of the fortress to understand its transformations to the current reality. The latter, focusing in particular on the survey, has been analyzed through surveys carried out with integrated methodologies, updated with recent acquisitions made with Image Systems based on drones. The use of aircraft systems has allowed to reach the staggering walls on which the imposing defensive structure is built, difficult to acquire with other instruments, replicating it in its landscaping context. In conclusion, the research provides a study methodology that, through three-dimensional representations and models, allows to graphically examine the fortified structure, reconsidering its contemporary values.
