This paper explores the use of corpus-based learning activities for teaching German as a foreign academic language (Deutsch als fremde Wissenschaftssprache), focusing on both comprehension and reuse of text-forming argumentative procedures. For our small corpus, book reviews were chosen as text-type insofar as they have proved to be prototypical for the argumentative text and can therefore exemplify key academic textual procedures. Corpusbased activities can give rise to contrastive metalinguistic considerations among students and provide teachers with learning materials that can be used in German language courses both for academic and for special purposes.

Abstract
This paper explores the use of corpus-based learning activities for teaching German as a foreign academic language (Deutsch als fremde Wissenschaftssprache), focusing on both comprehension and reuse of text-forming argumentative procedures. For our small corpus, book reviews were chosen as text-type insofar as they have proved to be prototypical for the argumentative text and can therefore exemplify key academic textual procedures. Corpusbased activities can give rise to contrastive metalinguistic considerations among students and provide teachers with learning materials that can be used in German language courses both for academic and for special purposes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
