Paesaggi ed insediamenti in area montana: il caso del territorio valvense tra persistenze e trasformazioni

The project was developed on an area of central Italy corresponding to the ancient territory of the diocese of Valva-Sumona, in the interior portion of the Abruzzi region. The main goal of the research was to identify the main trajectories of landscape development between late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages, in relation to the Christianisation of space, the end of the classical town and the productive use of the territory. Moreover, the archaeological investigation has always been carried out taking into account the primary need for a large-scale public use and disclosure of the archaeological data, so that the local communities would become again important agents, even in economic terms, for the History of these mountainous areas.
