PERSIDA LAZAREVIC DI GIACOMO: ON EXCERPTION FOR CH.F. TEMLER‟S “ILLYRIAN” DICTIONARY In this paper, some aspects of the excerptions that Danish State official Christian Friedrich Temler (1717-1781) used in his “Illyrian” dictionary (GKS – 4°) are analyzed. In particular, the material that Temler collected and consulted for the entries for the first three letters of the (Bosnian) Cyrillic alphabet has been examined. Based on a partial analysis, it is possible to conclude that the tendency towards encyclopaedisation typical of Temler‟s time was also a feature characteristic of Temler‟s work, and that the “Illyrian” language of his dictionary is actually a kind of protolanguage used to explain linguistic phenomena present from the Adriatic to the Baltic. The material Temler employed also confirms that he began to write his dictionary after 1776 and that his death interrupted his plans for what was originally conceived as a much longer and more comprehensive project.

Abstract
The material Temler employed also confirms that he began to write his dictionary after 1776 and that his death interrupted his plans for what was originally conceived as a much longer and more comprehensive project.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
