Léon Dufourny has been an intellectual figure between XVIII and XIX centuries, which had a certain success but has never been investigated properly as scholar. For this contribution, I have checked at the Bibliothéque Nationale de France some unpublished plans and drawings of the Cappella Palatina at Palermo, together with other drawings, almost totally unknown. In this paper I would like to emphasize the interest of this architect for the antiquities and for the classical art and architecture. In general the study of this scholar can easily communicate his view of an ‘universal architecture’, where everything can dialogue with everything without limits, throughout time and space.

Abstract
Léon Dufourny has been an intellectual figure between XVIII and XIX centuries, which had a certain success but has never been investigated properly as scholar. For this contribution, I have checked at the Bibliothéque Nationale de France some unpublished plans and drawings of the Cappella Palatina at Palermo, together with other drawings, almost totally unknown. In this paper I would like to emphasize the interest of this architect for the antiquities and for the classical art and architecture. In general the study of this scholar can easily communicate his view of an ‘universal architecture’, where everything can dialogue with everything without limits, throughout time and space.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
