The introduction synthetizes the results of the Mediterranean Urban Design & Regeneration Campus organized and coordinated during the Dubai Expo 2020 by the Department of Architecture of the G. d’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. The Mediterranean Urban Design & Regeneration Campus was activated in response to the call issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Cooperation for Expo 2020, seeking proposals for the dissemination of projects demonstrating the excellence of Italian universities around the initiative “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and the related themes “Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability”. Linked to the general theme proposed by the Italian Pavilion, the DdA’s proposal focused on promoting the results of applied research developed on the theme of architectural design and environmental regeneration of the Mediterranean city. In these experiences the themes of beauty and creativity, the connection of minds and sharing of knowledge represented the fil rouge of a line of work driven toward architectural quality and sustainability, resilience, climate adaptation and the environmental efficiency of urban space.
