In this paper, the main results of a large-scale seismic vulnerability analysis, carried out through an analytical method implemented on a representative sample of masonry buildings located in the Abruzzi region, are presented. The considered archetype buildings have been defined through the information extracted from the CARTIS form, which have been collected in a database developed by the Italian Plinius Study Centre in order to catalogue the main characteristics of the Italian building stock. As far as the masonry buildings of Abruzzi are concerned, all the features deemed to be relevant for their structural/seismic behavior were selected from the afore-mentioned database with the aim of defining a set of archetypes for carrying out a large-scale assessment via linear and non-linear kinematic analyses, this allowing to reproduce all the damage grades provoked by local mechanisms. The main outcomes were gathered and represented in terms of fragility curves. The results are discussed herein highlighting the most recurrent deficiencies of the built environment and suggesting possible mitigation policies to be adopted at the regional scale.
