In this article I focus on the controversy between Cratinus, Eupolis and Aristophanes related to the composition of Aristophanes’ Knights. The article is divided in three parts: in the first part, I discuss the various steps of the controversy through an investigation on Cratin. fr. 213 K.-A., Aristoph. Eq. 553-556 and Eupol. fr. 89 K.-A.; in the second part, I advance some hypothesis on the authorial collaboration between dramatic poets in the Classical Age; finally, I suggest a comparison between the controversy on Aristophanes’ Knights and the querelle on the authorships of some Terrence’s comedies, that aroused in Rome in II cent. BC
