This chapter explores the psychophysiological approach to sport and exercise, from its historical foundations to contemporary applications. It provides a holistic and technologically informed pathway for the future of sport and exercise science, framed by concepts such as homeostasis, allostasis and homeodynamics. With the MAP model as theoretical backdrop, emphasis is placed on multimodal performance monitoring to track athletes’ psychophysiological state and on advanced interventions, including biofeedback, neurofeedback and non-invasive brain stimulation. By integrating brain, body, and behaviour data, this approach offers evidence-based, personalized strategies to optimize performance, prevent maladaptation and promote well-being.

By integrating brain, body, and behaviour data, this approach offers evidence-based, personalized strategies to optimize performance, prevent maladaptation and promote well-being.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
