Raw earth buildings foresee techniques e materials with ecological characteristics and healthy spaces. Therefore, if the economic aspect contributed to diffuse those constructions during the history (resources, techniques, very limited energies and use of local materials), today, it is the necessity of re-introduce natural materials in building that favours their employ, against houses low environmental quality. Raw earth buildings rehabilitation should foresee the environment and no renewable resources safeguard as well as the attention to the users health that is to say to conciliate conservation aims with the new dwelling needs. For rehabilitating raw earth buildings as well as safeguarding and re-qualifying rural landscape, use destinations were evaluated respect to the constructions and the natural location characters, bringing out and analysing the residual and restorable performances of environmental and technological systems. “Green touring” was recognised as one of the ”most compatible and appropriate” use destination, permitting the optimal employ of the disposable resources according to a new ecological environmental culture. The rehabilitation proposals offer the possibility of “trying a green dwelling” that is to advertise the potentialities of the environmental high quality technologies. So we tried to draw common aims between the rural landscape safeguard and the social-economical interests.

Abstract

In the hilly territory of Abruzzo, the presence of spread houses units, the most of which in a decay and neglect state, stimulated the development of rehabilitation projects for ecologically compatible dwelling. The proposed projects face works of consolidation, restoration and new building, foreseeing eco-construction ed eco-management criteria: principally, a passive employ of solar energy and a dwelling area widening, flexible and re-configurable according to the different climatic conditions of the year.
