In this paper the existence of a till now unknown small Quaternary volcanic center related to an exposed intrusive body is pointed out. It is located in the South-Western Umbria-Marche Apennines, close to Spoleto, in corrispondence with a set of tectonic discontinuities at the Western boundary of the Valle Umbria Graben. The intrusive body (dike) is a melilite-wollastonite bearing rock, with a carbonatitic bulk composition. It belongs to a volcanic district here named « Distretto carbonatitico umbro-laziale ». The presence of carbonatites connected with the peri-Tyrrhenian Quaternary potassic volcanics emphasize the extensional geodynamic setting of the magmatic activity itself.

Abstract
In this paper the existence of a till now unknown small Quaternary volcanic center related to an exposed intrusive body is pointed out. It is located in the South-Western Umbria-Marche Apennines, close to Spoleto, in corrispondence with a set of tectonic discontinuities at the Western boundary of the Valle Umbria Graben. The intrusive body (dike) is a melilite-wollastonite bearing rock, with a carbonatitic bulk composition. It belongs to a volcanic district here named « Distretto carbonatitico umbro-laziale ». The presence of carbonatites connected with the peri-Tyrrhenian Quaternary potassic volcanics emphasize the extensional geodynamic setting of the magmatic activity itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
