Abstract

The results of a geometrical and kinematic analysis, carried out in the centra! sector of the Narni - Amelia mountain ridge by means of detailed geologica! survey, structural analisys and construction of a balanced geological section, are presented. The main compressional structure in the study area is a NW-SE trending thrust, Serravallianp.p. - Tortonianp.p. in age, which produced the superposition of two main structural units with the interposition of an "intermediate" horse shaped body. The upper unit is formed by a Nl35°E trendig, east-verging anticline named here Narni - M. Trassinari anticline. The lower unit, outcropping in the easternmost sector of the study area, corresponds with the N-S trending M. Ippolito anticline
