The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of self-efficacy beliefs and personality traits on academic goals and academic achievement in a sample of Italian high-school students. Findings show that self-efficacy beliefs and in particular academic perceived self-efficacy are better predictors of both academic goals and academic achievement at the end of the year. Students who value more their academic goals obtained final grades that were equal or higher than the expected ones.
