La manutenzione dei trabocchi: verso un’attività preventiva

The study about the rehabilitation of trabocchi is part of a safeguard policy aiming to the “conservation” of the residual presences of the Adriatic coast characteristic structures. A technical body of rules for checking the buildings conservation state and working does not yet support this purpose. The research wants to promote a preventive policy to reduce the states of emergency, by divulging a technical culture articulated by constant control activities and the design of “soft” interventions, compatible with the structural system characteristics. The trabocchi builders were constantly verifying the structures working with not “planned” and minimal interventions, similar to the contemporary preventive and corrective maintenance activities. The peculiarities of the techniques that “created” and “kept alive” trabocchi suggest to plan interventions that represent the two extremes of the building rehabilitation contemporary conception: the maintenance and the rebuilding. For disciplining the interventions design for trabocchi it is necessary a deep knowledge of the building techniques and materials as well as a “control” activity of the system working and of its relationships with the “aggressive” natural factor of the context.
