Integrated solution is an emerging business model that combines products and services together. Many scholars pointed their attention on changes in capabilities and in organizational structures required to offer integrated solutions (Davies, 2001; Oliva and Kallenberg, 2003; Wise and Baumgartner, 1999). This paper aims to explore capabilities required to offer integrated solutions in the IT sector. This sector has been chosen because it is a large sector in which this trend appears to have taken hold. It is also interesting because it covers a range of different products including both consumer and capital goods. The purpose of this research is to offer a deep analysis of the capabilities required to offer integrated solutions. The main contribution of this paper dwells in the identification of categories of capabilities that are related to the offer of integrated solution and in the creation of a preliminary taxonomy of the capabilities managed by the firm operating in the IT sector.
