Clothing function is not only to protect and defend our body, but also to send messages about our social role, our personality and so on. In our research, we identified five different female looks. With the help of a model, the five looks were presented coupled. Participants, composed by men and women of different ages (between 20 and 25 years or between 70 and 85 years) using a list of 31 different characteristics of personality or perceptual appearance, had to rate the different looks using the method of pair comparisons. The multidimensional scaling analysis of experimental data shows that there is a strong difference in interpreting the different looks between subjects with different sex or age. In particular, the difference is greater between young and old females and between old females and males.
