The article discusses an affirmation formulated by Heidegger during the famous seminar organized with Eugen Fink (1966/67), relating to his own interpretation of Heraclites, which would proceed “from logos to fire.” In particular it is shown that it cannot be understood simply on the basis of the “direction” of the hermeneutic procedure or of the hypothetical arrangement of the Heraclitean fragments, but needs to be clarified on the basis of the more specific theoretical characteristic of Heideggerian interpretation, which consists in the “speculative” movement of his double “appropriating translation”: of his own thought through the thought of Heraclites and the latter’s thought through his own. In this sense, according to the thesis explicitly formulated in the last part of the article, the way that leads “from logos to fire” is clarified as a mirroring of the switch “from being to the world” that Heidegger makes, also thanks to the experience with Heraclites, in his own mental pathway.
