Abstract

In the context of a literary production for children and adolescents increasingly globalized and standardized, the visual universe of the best contemporary illustrators represents a natural antidote to the risk of simplifying and standardize the youth imagination. The educational use of quality picture books, characterized by different modality of expression and different graphic styles, exposes to the plurality of signs and interpretations, and it configures itself as an exercise of flexible and problematic thinking, overcoming ethnocentrism and homogenization of cultural diversity.
