Abstract

The contribution, related to the research of Italian architectures overseas, presents the survey carried out on constructions realized in Eritrea during colonialism and specifically on public works in the city of Asmara. Particular attention is given to the complex of Hamasien, conceived to promote tourism in the capital. It consists of four buildings, among which the Hotel, that was the tallest building of the city when it was built in 1919, stands out. The survey, aimed at the documentation and protection of the existing heritage, is the core of the analysis, since it is an essential tool to understand and graphically represent data needed to prepare a conscious restoration and valorisation project of the historical Hotel.
