Abstract

After the spread of the communicative approach in the teaching of foreign languages, the role of descriptive grammar in the process of assimilation of a non-native language has become an urgent problem in applied linguistics. This article describes two cases, connected to the use of homonymous words, in which the use of descriptive grammar in teaching Russian to Italian students results useful and necessary to avoid errors, because it allows students to achieve a full understanding of the grammatical structures and rules, enabling them to consciously use grammatical skills in new linguistic contexts.
