Building reuse and urban revitalization

We think that the roads for way out of the actual economic and environmental crisis, have to review the cultural paradigm of the development and, in particular, of dwelling. The goal is the implementation of an "ecological approach": the achievement of closed cycles through the recovery, the reuse and the renewal of material and spatial heritage. The research is based on the interdisciplinary cooperation for the promotion of excellences available in the area (in the cultural and productive levels) for the integration with local clusters and public administrations; it comes to providing an adequate support to clients for the goal to qualify the demand and make it completely satisfy 'real needs'. With the re-use of a part of the city (Costa Masciarelli in L'Aquila), we configure the proposal of new forms of living through the regeneration of portions of buildings: the reuse of ground floors for new collective destinations (development of network for connections and information) and the superfetations located on the roofs as housing for the city-users (energetic and technological renewal through the reuse of materials that form post- earthquake buildings secure systems).
