Le strutture di Nervi: confronto fra due epoche

The charm of an important Italian engineer, who pioneered in the use of reinforced concrete, has led us to analyze the relevance of his work as an example of ratio between past and recent philosophy of structural design. The paper object is the former warehouse of sophisticated salts of Santa Margherita di Savoia. Some experimental tests are been done in order to study the characteristics of building ,and aimed at the characterization of materials involved; a complex bibliographic study in order to reconstruct the architectural system is been done, too. Finite element models are evaluated to perform dynamic and modal analysis with loads according to the old technical code and to the existing Italian technical code. In particular the building's capacity to support the seismic action. The particular shape and the particular precision to construct reinforced concrete give interesting results, considering that this building was not designed to resist horizontal actions of large entities, such as the seismic action
