Abstract

The current economic and environmental crisis, should review the cultural paradigm of development. It’s necessary to have the perception of the natural limits of growth and rethink the territory and the exploitation of local resources (material and immaterial). The goal is the innovation of the 'model' according to the parameters of ecology: closing cycles through recovery, regeneration and renewal of existing material and spatial assets. The building process, starting from local resources, must provide the closure of production cycles and the creation of industrial symbiosis able to converges territory activities in a common virtuous pathway, capable of involving all local stakeholders. The establishment of symbiosis at different levels creates a virtual network of local connections capable to affect economically on the community, identifying the basic needs, and enabling an integrated set of strategies that promote a better quality of life. The aim of the paper is to propose a new approach to evaluate the regeneration processes within the issue of sustainable development applying the Social Network Analysis (SNA) to identify the prevalence of industrial symbiosis linkages.
