Abstract
The contribution examines the role played by the markets covered in city spaces, investigating the cultural significance, sociological and architectural for the reorganization and re-use in a contemporary way. The structures intended for the public trading, from their original arrangement to date, have established an important network of relationships with the surrounding environment. The place of food exchanges defines a social convergence center that over the years has defined its functions, enclosing them in some cases in architectural organisms. The typology that comes accommodates street vending, held temporarily in outdoor areas, in closed stable and ordered structures, that simulate covered squares. The concept of open space, projected in an interior, becomes the common element of these buildings that do not have precise rules of composition, but are entrusted to the design choices. The leitmotiv of the analysis is therefore determined by the conceptual link that historically joints the city with its places of exchange, capable of generating attractive possibilities for re-use and polyfunctional pull. The research with these targets is focused in the cognitive survey directly in study cases identified in Pescara urban fabric that offers testimonies and ideas for the redevelopment of the markets in relation to the city.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
