Abstract

The human right to safe drinking water is often denied to the poorest global population. The Atmospheric water generator (AWG) system, which applies principle of condensation to extract water vapor from humid ambient air, could provide a solution to this critical issue. This technology may therefore be regarded as an inexhaustible and free water source. By using solar photovoltaic (PV) panel to produce the required electricity may be furthermore environmentally sustainable. The issue becomes more complex, regarding portability, weight and efficiency, if the purpose is design stand-alone device suitable for individual use while moving in the most favorable climatic areas. As of today there is a knowledge gap both on technological feasibility of a Portable solar powered AWG and on a sustainable solution of System design for eco-efficency covering, in this subject area, innovation of product-service and social and economic interaction between the potential stakeholders through a participatory design process.
