n the current society of information characterized by the constant innovation of digital technologies and by the continuous changes in the working world, to guarantee to all European citizens the acquisition of an adequate literacy represents an urgent goal, on the one hand because the digitalization entails a more and more widespread use of the written word in social, civic and economic interaction, on the other hand because the increase of mobility and migratory phenomena imply the ability to “inhabit” a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
