Municipal solid waste management systems have been studied by a number of authors in terms of mathematical optimization models. This study shows a simple formulation for municipal solid waste management systems by Linear Programming with few variables, which can be derived from different known results, and points out some benefits of such a formulation mainly by introducing an economic interpretation of the dual problem. Furthermore, the economic model is integrated with the environmental one through a “multi-objective (linear) programming” problem.

Abstract
Municipal solid waste management systems have been studied by a number of authors in terms of mathematical optimization models. This study shows a simple formulation for municipal solid waste management systems by Linear Programming with few variables, which can be derived from different known results, and points out some benefits of such a formulation mainly by introducing an economic interpretation of the dual problem. Furthermore, the economic model is integrated with the environmental one through a “multi-objective (linear) programming” problem.File in questo prodotto:
