The Author presents some historiographical studies about the Mussolini's campaign in Russia. The paper analyses the living conditions of the Italian Prisoners of War in the Soviet camps during WWII and the question of their repatriation. The question of prisoners of war during the Second World War has remained a very important issue for both Italian foreign and internal policy since 1945-46, when the repatriation of only 10,032 Italian prisoners of war from the Soviet Union gave rise to animated discussions and controversies among the public and the Italian political parties of the post-war period.
