La traducción “honesta” de Le piacevoli notti

My contribution will attempt to offer an approach to the translation practice of Francisco Truchado in his Honesto y agradable entretenimiento de damas y galanes, the Spanish version of Straparola’s Le piacevoli notti, in relation to the most lascivious episodes of the original text. Considering the infidelity of the traduttore-traditore, due, of course, to the omission of irreverent situations demanded by the different Spanish socio-moral context, a case of translation-correction affected by filters, amendments and hidden sensual insinuations will be examined, although a certain eroticism, good humour and comedy of the original text will be maintained.
