In a specialized context (Stock Exchange and Financial discourses), many verbal syntagms belonging to the common language and often recuring in texts seem to be synonymous. This study considers some verbs of down movement (for example “baisser”, “fléchir”, “chuter”) which for their frequency and stability represent a fine corpus. If the dictionaries consider them as synonymy, we prove placing them along a scale they have different semantic levels; besides a syntactic construction analysis diversifies them and demonstrates special uses of language (“langue” vs “discours”). We insist on the importance of a common language study in specialized context with distributional and semic scientific method.
