Sound Poetry is a poetic composition in which words lose their purported meaning to originate new creations and pathos, born of sound. It is a form of interdisciplinary artistic expression in which vocalization plays the primary role. It was born from all those artistic-literary experiments that took place in the atmosphere of avant-garde attempts starting from the sixties of the twentieth century. The author traces the path by identifying the main stages, the protagonists, the disputes and controversies from the origins to the present day, placing Sound Poetry in its correct historical location with a critical ap-paratus.
