The article analyzes the proposal for a regulation on a mechanism to resolve legal and administrative obstacles in a cross-border context (European Cross-Border Mechanism), presented by the European Commission as part of the package of financial and legal instruments relating to cohesion policy in Multiannual Framework Programme 2021-2027. The pros and the most problematic issues are highlighted, referring in particular to the chosen legal basis, the voluntary nature of the mechanism and its inspiring source, which can be traced back to the experimental legislation already existing in the legal systems of some Member States.
