Abstract
With regard to an anathema at Olympia dedicated by the Akragantinoi in consequence of a victory over Motya, many scholars maintain an alleged confusion by Pausanias, or by his sources, between Μοτύη and Μότυον (Diod. XI 91). But, as often happens in Periegesis, Pausanias is reporting experience and communication between himself and local exegesis. Victory over Motya may belong to Thrasydaios, son of Theron. The circumstances of this victory opens the way to remarks on longue durée of economic situation at Akragas, a reason for civic consensus.File in questo prodotto:
