Abstract
Antipater of Sidon’s epigram (Anth. Pal. 7, 409) refers to the work of Antimachus of Colophon through the phrase τὰν ἀγέλαστον ὄπα. This article argues that the use of ἀγέλαστος and the peculiar presence of Po- seidon in the epigram allude to Antimachus’ Homeric criticism and to his ecdotic and ethical reading ἔργ ̓ ἀγέλαστα against ἔργα γελαστά in the controversial song of Ares and Aphrodite (Hom. Od. 8, 307).File in questo prodotto:
